STUDIO DOOR COLLECTIONS

Limited edition, hand painted plates by local artist Emogen Clark.

We first discovered Emogen's work as a loyal customer to our Paint-your-own workshop. Emogen would come in week-in and week-out to carefully paint pieces for her beloved nieces and nephews. Emogen's intricate drawings of her favourite feathered pets, caught our eye and an idea was hatched to craft a collection of plates.

“I have passion to take ordinary things and turn them into a beautiful and happy space where your heart feels lifted and joyful. For me there is great fulfilment when i see the delight on my nieces, nephews and sisters faces when they see a cup or plate painted especially for them”- Emogen Clark / Artist

ABOUT THE ARTIST / EMOGEN CLARK

Tell us a bit about yourself - home life/family life.

My name is Emogen Clark, I have 3 wonderful children, Poppy-Rae, Cooper and Heidi and my legend husband Dean.

I would rather be outside in the garden with no shoes on my feet than inside. I like to paint, draw, garden and be in nature as much as possible. I am currently studying building surveying and working at the Bellevue Orchard.

It sounds so silly, but chickens have been an integral part of my life. Surprising, they were the perfect feathery pet during childhood. Now I have children, we have carried on the tradition and have a lovely backyard flock of our own, Eddie, Jan, Jen, Salt, Pepper, Mary-Lou & Princess Layer to name a few.

Where does your love of painting come from?

I have always loved art and design for its visual effect and the way it moves me. It sounds so cliché, but painting allows me to express my thoughts and feelings. It is my exhale, my ability to pause and be present is this crazy world.

What does the future hold for your art?

Who knows what the future will bring! I am just so happy to have the opportunity to paint and share my love of animals with other people. I believe I will continue to create art for the rest of my life.

Where can people locate your work if they wanted to?

I really am a hermit, however I’m currently on Instagram. People are welcome to message me there and view some of my works for sale.

Do you use other mediums?

I use whatever I can get my hands on. I want to learn how to transform everything and anything into a beautiful, unique version of itself. Whether its painting, organising the pantry, taking photos, sculpting or rearranging the kids’ drawers, every little thing can have a creative flair that brings joy.

What do you love about painting pottery?

So many things!! I have passion to take ordinary things (gardens/objects/ rooms) and turn them into a beautiful and happy space where your heart feels lifted and joyful. For me, there is a great fulfillment when I see the delight on my nieces, nephews and sisters faces when they see a cup or plate painted especially for them.

These handcrafted plates are now available exclusively online. A limited edition of 50 mixed designs, means that these one-of-a-kind plates will be quick to go!
