Clay To Table: Nancy Eatery

Nancy Eatery owners Omar and Josh met decades ago whilst overseas travelling & working in the hospitality industry. Omar is from California, with Mexican heritage, and Josh is originally from Hobart, Tasmania. The two moved to the Dandenong Ranges over 10 years ago and fell in love with the area, opening up their first cafe, Lorna Melbourne, in Ferntree Gully nearly 5 years ago. Lorna is named after Josh's grandmother and her homemade crumpet recipe is always a staple on their menu. It is no surprise that Lorna is continually rated within the top cafes in the Eastern suburbs.
After an overwhelming response for Lorna with locals and visitors to the Dandenong Ranges area the pair decided to open their next cafe, Maria Melbourne, in Upwey in 2019. Maria is named after Omar’s grandmother and has a stronger South American/Mexican influence, complete with cacti and delicious Mexican dishes. The café has a standout coffee menu using Industry Beans with a wide rotating selection of single origins - and a kicker cold brew!
Fast forward to November 2020, and Nancy Eatery was born. Located in our retail factory outlet in Pakenham, Nancy is the namesake of Josh's other Grandmother, who had an affinity with home cooking & pottery - a true match made in heaven. The menu takes elements of Nancy's love of cooking mixed with a modern twist and the cafe serves as the perfect brunch spot when getting in some retail therapy at our outlet or if you're simply in the area and are after a top quality caffeine hit.
Sous Chefs, Brendan and Luca are responsible for bringing this always-delicious menu to life. Brendan, a Nancy original since 2020, loves creating in the kitchen and names the Chicken Burger on top of his must-eat list. Luca is a Pakenham local of Italian heritage, however claims that he hates tomatoes! He's been in the Nancy team since late 2021 and admits his favourite dish on the menu is the Carrot Cake French Toast.
